Torremaggiore - la mostra ‘Dal Cristo bruciato al Cristo rivelato'
Informations
At the Ducal Castle of Torremaggiore the exhibition “From the Burnt Christ to the Revealed Christ”
The Ducal Castle De Sangro in Torremaggiore will host the exhibition From the Burnt Christ to the Revealed Christ until December 31, 2025, with free admission.
For the first time, the renowned Burnt Christ, kept in the Church of Sant’Anna, is displayed in the castle’s palatine chapel alongside the Revealed Christ, a contemporary statue by sculptor Domenico Sepe.
The project, conceived by journalist Pino Aprile in collaboration with the Arciconfraternita del Rosario, originally marked the opening of Holy Week in Torremaggiore as a symbolic journey through the Death and Resurrection of Christ, told through the historic statue of the De Sangro family and Sepe’s modern creation.
The municipality highlights the importance of this unique wooden work, entrusted by Raimondo de Sangro to the Confraternity of the Rosary in the mid-18th century, and believed to be the twin of the famous Veiled Christ by Giuseppe Sanmartino, housed in the Cappella Sansevero in Naples.
After attracting more than 4,700 visitors from all over Italy, the exhibition has been officially extended until December 2025, confirming itself as a key cultural and spiritual event in Apulia.
