This cultural and culinary event was created with the aim of promoting and passing down the ancient pastoral traditions of the area, offering residents and tourists an all-encompassing sensory experience. An evening where local gastronomy becomes a narrative, deeply intertwined with the history of transhumance and rural life. The heart of the event will, of course, be the food. During the evening, visitors will be able to taste traditional dishes prepared according to the ancient recipes of the Gargano shepherds.
Highlights of the menu will include:
Traditional Cheeses: Apulian Canestrato, caciocavallo, and fresh ricotta, skillfully crafted by local producers.
The Shepherd's Hot Dishes: Recipes made with local meat and wild, native Gargano greens.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Local Wine: Inevitable excellences of the Mattinata territory that will accompany every course.
"A tavola col Pastore" is not just a food festival, but a true safeguard of historical memory.
The evening will be enriched by:
Live Demonstrations: Master cheesemakers will show the public the art of stretching caciocavallo cheese and producing fresh ricotta.
Folk Music and Storytelling: Traditional songs and stories from the past will provide the soundtrack to the event, recreating the atmosphere of old village gatherings.
Craft Market: A dedicated space for local handicrafts and zero-km products to take home.
Admission: Free (tastings are paid via tickets purchasable on-site).
