The construction of the castle of Barletta by the Normans began during the eleventh century, and ended in the seventeenth century.

The Norman Swabian Castle of Barletta has undergone, over the centuries, several restoration works.

It is now the seat of the Municipal Library, the Civic Museum and a conference and exhibition hall.
