On September 29th, in the municipality of Orsara in Puglia, the Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel is celebrated. The September date is linked to transhumance, while the one related to the appearance of the warrior archangel at Monte Sant'Angelo is celebrated on May 8th.
In the municipality of Orsara di Puglia, there are natural caves closely associated with the cult of Saint Michael. In fact, one of these caves is considered a place of worship. During the festive days, specifically on May 8th and September 29th, the statue of Saint Michael is moved from the Mother Church of San Nicola to the cave.
This Patronal feast involves the celebration of numerous religious functions, the firing of fireworks, processions, songs, concerts, and fireworks.
