# Uni-Tanz 2026 comes to Foggia: four days dedicated to contemporary dance

**From 3 to 6 September 2026, Foggia will host the 14th edition of Uni-Tanz, the International Contemporary Dance Campus promoted by Koreoproject. The programme includes classes, workshops, urban performances and shows featuring Daphnis Kokkinos, Giorgia Maddamma and several guest artists.**

For the first time, **Uni-Tanz** is coming to Foggia. From **Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 September 2026**, the International Contemporary Dance Campus will offer four days dedicated to training, choreographic research and live performance.

Founded in Lecce in 2013 and created by the Salento-based association **Koreoproject**, the project is artistically directed by **Giorgia Maddamma**, with **Sara Bizzoca** as coordinator. The Foggia edition is supported by the **Puglia Region**, in collaboration with the **Municipality of Foggia** and the **Teatro dei Limoni** company.

## Classes and choreographic workshop

The **Teatro Umberto Giordano in Foggia** will be the main venue for the campus activities.

The programme will include contemporary dance technique classes led by **Giorgia Maddamma**, artistic director of Uni-Tanz and lecturer at the National Academy of Dance in Rome.

Participants will also have the opportunity to attend a choreographic workshop with **Daphnis Kokkinos**, Greek dancer and choreographer from Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch.

Kokkinos worked alongside Pina Bausch for many years, also serving as her collaborator and assistant, gaining first-hand experience within one of the companies that has had the greatest influence on contemporary European dance and theatre.

## The Nelken Line in the streets of Foggia

One of the highlights of the event will take place on **Saturday 5 September at 7:00 pm**, when Uni-Tanz students will perform **The Nelken Line**, one of Pina Bausch's most iconic creations, through the streets of central Foggia.

Through a sequence of simple gestures, the performers will represent the changing of the four seasons while moving together in a long line to music, bringing contemporary dance outside the theatre and directly into the city's public spaces.

## Dance Evening/Guests

The 14th edition of Uni-Tanz will conclude on **Sunday 6 September at 9:00 pm** at the **Teatro Umberto Giordano** with **“Dance Evening/Guests”**, a Koreoproject production included in the 12th edition of **“I Nudi”**, a programme dedicated to independent contemporary dramaturgy, conceived and directed by Roberto Galano and organised by Teatro dei Limoni.

The evening will present the results of the artistic work developed during the previous days of the campus.

The programme will also feature a **lecture demonstration by Daphnis Kokkinos dedicated to the work of Pina Bausch**, a choreography by **Ricky Bonavita**, artist, choreographer and dancer with the Rome-based Excursus company, as well as performances by Koreoproject and other guest artists.

## An international campus founded in Lecce

Founded in Lecce in 2013, Uni-Tanz has developed into an established project in the field of contemporary dance, creating a broad network of national and international collaborations.

Over the years, the campus has welcomed participants from countries including Italy, Argentina, Brazil, the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Spain, Turkey, Russia, Japan and Taiwan.

Uni-Tanz has also developed collaborations and agreements with major institutions, including the **Tito Schipa Conservatory of Music** and the **Academy of Fine Arts in Lecce**, the **National Academy of Dance in Rome** and the **Tisch School of the Arts in New York**.

Since 2005, Koreoproject has been active in the fields of contemporary dance and dance theatre, combining the production of performances with the promotion of live performing arts, artistic residencies and projects exploring different forms of stage expression.

The association also pays particular attention to educational and social initiatives, developing projects and collaborations involving artists, institutions, academies and local communities.
