The Company
Our story:
In 2008, supported by his family, Stefano Maria Pirro began vinifying the grapes from his estates. He decided to redevelop an indigenous grape variety from northern Puglia: Nero di Troia. The wines meet high quality standards as the cellar preserves the richness and integrity of the fruit obtained from the vineyard by applying organic viticulture methods. All production stages aim to allow the character of each vineyard to express itself. It is an extraordinary alliance between nature and technology. The vineyards are located in the most suitable areas of Troia in terms of exposure and soil composition. The additional potential of the soil for producing fine wines is enhanced by organic cultivation. The wines produced come from Nero di Troia, Falanghina, Primitivo, and Aglianico grapes.
Uniqueness and values:
As a lover and connoisseur of good wine, Stefano decided to vinify the indigenous fruit of his land: Nero di Troia. This grape is rich in polyphenols and has a color so dark that it is called "nero" (black). Cantine Pirro chose to produce white wine from this grape, which is so structured that it evokes red wine aromas.
The winery was built according to eco-friendly architecture criteria to ensure a low environmental impact. Alternative energy sources, the use of stone and wood, and water phytodepuration are just some of the measures implemented.
