An unmissable event for dance lovers: on Saturday, January 17, 2026, the Cineteatro dell'Opera di Lucera will host the debut of ‘Kreo’, an innovative project dedicated to promoting the local area and promoting culture through dance art.

‘Kreo’ is an original and multidisciplinary format that combines stage lessons, interviews with prestigious masters, live performances by dance companies, and training talks with the active involvement of local schools, creating a bridge between training, entertainment, and audiences.

The special guest of the evening scheduled for Lucera will be Giuseppe Picone, world-renowned star and maestro. Born in Naples in 1976, Picone is one of the leading Italian faces of world dance. A student at the Teatro San Carlo Ballet School and the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome, at just 17 he joined the English National Ballet, performing leading roles in the classical, neoclassical, and contemporary repertoire. At 21 he became the first Italian to enter the American Ballet Theatre as a soloist. From 2016 to 2020, he was director of the San Carlo Ballet Company in Naples; as a choreographer, he directed important productions, including ‘The Nutcracker’, ‘Don Quixote’, and the choreography of ‘La Traviata’, directed by Maestro Zeffirelli, at the Verona Arena.

The evening's program will kick off at 6 pm with a limited-edition masterclass, reserved for selected students, including local dancers. There will also be a moment of educational discussion with the directors of the dance schools present in the room. Following this, Giuseppe Picone will present his autobiographical book ‘La mia vita a passi di danza’ (published by Gremese), in a meeting open to the public, accompanied by Floriana Rignanese. Closing the evening will be live performances by the companies Anam (Molise) and Soqquadro (Puglia), which will offer the audience moments of intense emotion.

The project ‘Kreo’ stops in Lucera thanks to the productive and visionary collaboration, started two years ago, between the Cineteatro dell'Opera di Lucera, directed by Gianni Finizio, and Roberto Procaccini, a dancer, maestro and choreographer from Puglia, who has lived in Rome for 25 years. Procaccini boasts numerous collaborations in the world of television, cinema and theatre and is the creator of the national competition ‘DanzainPuglia’ which has hosted personalities such as Carla Fracci, Laccio and Rossella Brescia.
