Lino Patruno Jazz Show
Informations
A unique evening to dive into the history of Italian jazz with Lino Patruno, the master multi-instrumentalist who brings to the stage of Teatro Curci a true "jazz show all’italiana" blending music, irony, and unforgettable stories.
Lino Patruno is more than just a musician—he's a true sonic storyteller, a living witness to jazz's golden era. Founder of the cabaret group “Il Teatrino dei Gufi,” he has composed soundtracks for cinema and theater (including the screenplay for Pupi Avati’s “Bix,” presented at Cannes in 1991), published autobiographical books, led university seminars, and received awards like the Golden Globe from the Foreign Press and a David di Donatello nomination. Featured in Scott Yanow’s “The Great Jazz Guitarists,” he is the only Italian jazz guitarist celebrated at that level, and he has represented Italy at the world's most prestigious festivals, from New Orleans to Lucerne.
In this show, Patruno leads an exceptional national jazz band ensemble: Mino Lacirignola on trumpet, Francesco Manfredi on clarinet, Carlo Ficini on trombone, Sandro Binetti on piano, Ilario De Marinis on double bass, Michele Fracchiolla on drums, and Cristina Lacirignola as vocalist. The repertoire traces the history of American jazz—from swing to dixieland, through hot jazz—following in the footsteps of Eddie Condon's All Stars. More than a concert, it's a lively, theatrical journey packed with virtuosic performances, irony, and musical scholarship, celebrating a life devoted to passion for jazz.
The event, part of the 42nd Musical Season 2025/2026 “Cultura e Musica G. Curci” at Teatro Curci in Barletta, transforms a Puglian summer evening into a meeting of culture, spectacle, and collective memory. A rare opportunity to experience swing in one of the region's iconic venues, with tickets starting from €14 available at the box office (tel/fax 0883.332456), Vivaticketoutlets, or online.
