The Theatre of Civic Engagement Festival returns to Capitanata for its second edition, reaffirming the role of theatre as a powerful educational and social tool for younger generations.
The project will run from December 19, 2025 to May 31, 2026, involving six municipalities: Cerignola, Foggia, Manfredonia, Monte Sant’Angelo, Orta Nova and San Severo.
The festival is designed for upper secondary school students and aims to foster critical thinking, dialogue and active citizenship through theatrical language.
The opening event will take place on December 19 at the Monte Sant’Angelo auditorium with Frammenti dentro by Compagnia Palcoscenico.
From January 2026 onward, the programme will continue with performances by some of the most active theatre companies in the province of Foggia.
The festival also includes a series of workshops and school-based activities, designed to deepen the themes explored on stage and encourage students to engage in collective reflection and discussion.
Supported by the Provincia di Foggia, in collaboration with cultural and institutional partners, and organized by Puglia Culture, the initiative is completely free of charge for students and teachers.
Through theatre, the festival addresses crucial social and civic issues such as organized crime, discrimination, cyberbullying, new technologies, labour rights, social conflicts and contemporary crises, offering young people meaningful tools to understand and critically interpret the world around them.
