International jazz day 2026

On April 30, 2026, Cerignola will celebrate International Jazz Day with a rich programme combining cultural outreach, musical research and live performances, turning the city into a meeting place devoted to jazz and its most vibrant and contemporary languages.

The day opens at 7:00 PM at Mondadori Point Cerignola, in Via Bari 48, with “Jazz in the Bookstore”, the first in-depth event of the evening, featuring the presentation of the book “Le Cinque Stagioni. Forme molteplici di un jazz in movimento” and the album “Le Cinque Stagioni. Concerto per corpi danzanti” by Matteo Fioretti, curated by Maestro Enzo Nini.

At 8:00 PM, again at Mondadori Point, the spotlight turns to the masterclass “Oltre il segno. Linguaggi sperimentali tra jazz e avanguardia”, curated by Matteo Fioretti, in collaboration with Enzo Nini and Antonio Cicoria. This event is designed for those who wish to explore more deeply the territories of musical experimentation and the dialogue between composition, improvisation and sonic research. The evening will then continue at Safarà, in Piazza Matteotti, with “Safarà in Jazz”, the performance-based heart of the entire event. At 9:30 PM, the programme features “Celebrating #100: Miles Davis & John Coltrane”, a moment of visions, listening and reflections curated by Maestro Enzo Nini, dedicated to two giants of jazz who were born one hundred years ago and who still remain central to the history of twentieth-century music.

After that, the stage will welcome the Interact Trio led by Pino Melfi, with Donato Cillis, Olindo Linguerri and featuring Alessandro Tedesco: a project built on interaction among musicians with different backgrounds, capable of moving through standards, reinterpretations and innovative sounds in the spirit of improvisation.

From 11:00 PM, “Jazz on stage” will begin, with musical performances by Nicola Scagliozzi, Pietro Lomuscio, Antonio Cicoria and Enzo Nini, alongside a series of moments dedicated to Coltrane’s 100th anniversary, performances by Border Society, a tribute to Grant Green with the Green Street 4tet, a concert by the students of DAM Accademia Musicale, and the Groove Lab Ensemble led by Thomas Capozza.

The night will close with the final jam session, featuring the resident band made up of Nicola Scagliozzi, Pietro Lomuscio, Antonio Cicoria and Enzo Nini, joined by local artists, in an open and shared finale that restores jazz to its most authentic nature: a free, collective language in constant transformation.

The event is part of International Jazz Day, established by UNESCO, and finds in Safarà a particularly meaningful venue. For more than twenty years, this place has been a landmark for live music in Cerignola, a cultural hub capable of bringing together attentive listening, artistic quality and a strong connection with the local area.
