Description
"The Rite of Spring" is a classic of dance that is reinterpreted by choreographer Roberta Ferrara, merging tradition and innovation. In this version, the scenes no longer depict the sacrifice of the virgin but instead present a utopian community embracing principles of equality and harmony. The performance explores the concept of sacrifice for the common good and collective worship in the name of ideals, featuring a symbolic death that prepares for an unknown rebirth.
The choreographer, captivated by rituality, emphasizes the value of gesture and sharing within the community. Composer Benedetto Boccuzzi enhances Stravinsky's score with electronic elements, creating a multisensory experience. The collective choreography involves ten dancers, harnessing primordial and pagan energies in a manifesto of hope and wonder.
