‘Terre Alte’: CAI Foggia’s Mountain-Themed Film and Documentary Festival Debuts
On Tuesday, November 19 at 7:30 PM, the inaugural edition of the ‘Terre Alte’ film and documentary festival will kick off, organized by CAI (Italian Alpine Club) Foggia with the support of the CAI Central Film Archive in Milan and the Sectional Scientific Committee. The festival presents a selection of films and documentaries exploring the world of mountains, highlighting their human, social, and therapeutic significance. Screenings will be free and open to the public every Tuesday at 7:30 PM, held at the CAI Foggia headquarters at the ‘da Vinci’ Institute (entrance on Via Sbano).
The festival opens with the documentary ‘Quel che posso – Da zero a tremila’, directed by Enzo Francesco Testa and produced in 2017. This emotionally impactful film tells the journey of a group of young people who, through mountain therapy, confront and transform their personal challenges. Supported by the CAI Regional Committees of Abruzzo and Lombardy, the group embarks on a symbolic journey from the Abruzzo coast to the highest peaks, a journey representing profound personal transformation.
Festival Program:
December 3 – ‘Zaino e… avventura’ by Gianni Scarpellini (1989): dedicated to young people’s experiences in discovering the mountains, produced with the Youth Mountaineering Commission of CAI Bergamo.
January 14, 2025 – ‘È pericoloso sporgersi’ by Robert Nicod: a documentary highlighting the challenges and determination of women in the field of mountaineering.
January 28, 2025 – ‘La congenialità’ by Christian Schmidt (2018): a German production exploring connections and friendships in mountain environments.
February 18, 2025 – ‘Il cielo in me (Antonia Pozzi)’ by Sabrina Bonaiti and Marco Ongania (2014): a tribute to poet and photographer Antonia Pozzi, weaving her life and art with the evocative atmosphere of the mountains.
‘Terre Alte’ invites audiences to experience the mountains as a place of discovery, growth, and connection, through stories that blend adventure, nature, and introspection.
