San Giovanni Rotondo Hosts a Series of Initiatives for the “Season of Creation”
From September 1 to October 4, 2025, the Laudato si’ Community of San Giovanni Rotondo will host a series of initiatives as part of the Season of Creation, a period during which the global ecumenical family comes together in prayer and action for the care of our common home.
This year’s theme is “Peace with Creation”, inspired by the words of Isaiah (32:14), which portray a world desolate and without peace due to injustice and the broken relationship between God and humanity. A message echoed by Pope Francis, who reminds us: “Along with prayer, we need willpower and concrete actions that make God’s caress visible in the world.”
Main events
Tuesday, September 2 – 8:30 PM, Church of Sant’Onofrio (San Giovanni Rotondo): Eucharistic Adoration led by Archbishop Franco Moscone (Diocese of Manfredonia-Vieste-San Giovanni Rotondo), with the participation of Fr. Pasquale Paloscia, spiritual assistant of the Laudato si’ Community.
Friday, September 5 – 9:00 PM, Casa dell’Arte (Mattinata): 4th edition of the concert A Voice for Creation, organized with the association “Dare.” Young local artists will perform songs themed around peace, care, and fraternity, interspersed with choreographies by students of the RDL Academy of Mattinata.
Saturday, September 20 – 7:00 PM, Contrada Costa (San Giovanni Rotondo): Laudato si’ Mass celebrated in the neighborhood affected by a severe fire last July.
Saturday, October 4: Conclusion of the Season of Creation on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron of Italy and of ecology.
“These events – stresses the Laudato si’ Community – are an invitation to rediscover our shared responsibility toward Creation, transforming spirituality into concrete acts of care and fraternity.”
