A San Giovanni Rotondo una mostra con le opere originali di Yves Klein
Informations
In San Giovanni Rotondo the exhibition “Blu. I Fondamenti dello Spirito” with original works by Yves Klein
The contemporary art exhibition Blu. I Fondamenti dello Spirito will open on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 6:00 PM in San Giovanni Rotondo. The show will remain on view until November 30, 2025, hosted both in the foyer of the Church of San Pio, designed by architect Renzo Piano, and in the historic churches of San Nicola, San Leonardo Abate, and San Giovanni Battista in the town’s Borgo Antico.
The event brings to San Giovanni Rotondo the original works of French master Yves Klein (1928–1962), a leading figure in post-war art and founder of the Nouveau Réalisme movement.
Starting from October 1, two of Klein’s iconic works – Terre Bleue and a Blue Monochrome (1958) – on loan from the Monastery of Saint Rita of the Augustinian Nuns in Cascia, will enrich the exhibition. These masterpieces will engage in dialogue with the contemporary interventions of Luca Pozzi, Vincenzo Marsiglia, and Penzo+Fiore, whose installations will animate the churches of the Borgo Antico, turning each stage into an experience of contemplation and reflection.
“This exhibition dedicated to Yves Klein is a unique opportunity for our city,” stated Filippo Barbano, Mayor of San Giovanni Rotondo. “It represents an extraordinary union of spirituality and creativity, capable of leaving a lasting mark on both our community and visitors.”
Curator Cristina Maiorano explains how the participating artists “draw from the essential, opening up a vision of spirituality that speaks to the present, in dialogue with places filled with both memory and contemporary meaning.”
