On August 5, the Svevarena in Bisceglie (BT) will host Tropico, one of the artists who has most reshaped the sound of Italian pop in recent years. The solo project of Davide Petrella — a Naples‑born singer‑songwriter, class of 1985 — has become one of the most influential and distinctive forces on the national scene, thanks to an emotional, cinematic writing style and a sonic identity that blends Neapolitan melody, funk, and modern pop aesthetics.

Throughout his career, Petrella has written major hits for artists such as Cremonini, Elisa, Elodie, Jovanotti, Calcutta, Geolier, Lazza, Marracash, Marco Mengoni, Sfera Ebbasta, The Kolors, and Tony Effe, helping define the sound of contemporary Italian pop.

As Tropico, he has released three critically acclaimed albums:

Non esiste amore a Napoli (2021)

Chiamami quando la magia finisce (2024)

Soli e disperati nel mare meraviglioso (2025)

All three works are marked by a strong artistic identity and an intense, visually evocative writing style.

Tropico’s arrival officially opens the second season of the Svevarena, the summer arena of the historic Bisceglie club which, after last year’s success, returns with a rich program of concerts and shows featuring some of the most important names in Italian music.
