The Company

The territory:

We are in Cerignola, on the hills that border the legendary Tavoliere delle Puglie, an endless landscape where the view opens up and stretches all the way to the sea. It is a strong and ancient territory. As the third largest agricultural area in Italy, everything here is still marked by the rhythms of agriculture, which dictate and bind everything. It is the emotional kingdom of the Caiaffa family, a realm of binary chromaticism, reassuring in its yellow wheat and blue sky: an unchanging two-color landscape that testifies to the fact that, in this part of Puglia, it hardly ever rains. The land here is closer to the sea than to the earth, as in some places, only 4 km separate the vineyards from the seawater. The medium-textured soils are rich in limestone, as the entire Tavoliere was once submerged, which now contributes to a graceful and mild climate, as witnessed by the surrounding territory, nestled between the Gravina and the Gargano, rich in a variety of flora and fauna connected by the imperceptible yet constant buzz of nature.

The place of reconciliation between tradition and innovation:

Grapevine, soil, and the human hand: these are the three elements of the philosophy of "everything is interconnected," which is also the essence of wine as a living and sensitive matter, constantly and naturally transforming, much like humans. That is why the winery is the place of reconciliation between tradition and innovation, a balance achieved through the revival of traditional practices such as long macerations, the use of native yeasts, and minimal use of sulfites, combined with contemporary technology such as nitrogen systems that protect the must from the oxidizing action of oxygen, vacuum presses, and low temperatures applied during maceration. This is how the reconciliation is realized: the meeting point between a revived past and a consolidated present, with the direction set towards the future—the only possible future, not just for agriculture, but for all of humanity.

Synergistic wine, the juice of the fruit and the love of the Caiaffa family:

In this sense, wine is simply the juice of the fruit, the berry, which in turn is the result of characteristics derived from the identity of the grapevine, the soil, and the sensitivity of the hand that cultivates it—an ongoing, synergistic process that continues in the cellar, where technology becomes a natural extension of artisanal practices.
