F.lli Croce e Capuano
Love for the sea and fishing for generations.
The Company
Our connection with our territory:
We are fortunate.
We are fortunate because we live in a land once inhabited by the Dauni people and the Homeric hero Diomedes.
We are fortunate because we were one of the most important ports of Magna Graecia and later of Roman Italy during the Augustan era.
We are fortunate because we are direct descendants of Manfred of Sicily, son of Frederick II of Swabia, the founder of our city: Manfredonia.
We are fortunate because we are nestled at the foot of the Gulf of Gargano, embraced by the sea and protected by the "Mountain of the Sun."
We are fortunate because we have a relationship of love and mutual respect with the sea that has welcomed us for generations.
We are fortunate because we feel a strong connection to the history and traditions of our land.
We are fortunate.
Truly.
Our history:
The Capuano family settled in Naples, and it was in 1270 when the noble Martosio moved to Manfredonia, where he married a patrician woman from Siponto. In the following centuries, the Capuano family obtained the royal tax collection rights of Andito, which imposed a tax on non-Sipontine fishermen who wanted to fish in the Gulf of Manfredonia. In 1773, in Manfredonia, Carlo Capuano passed away without heirs, closing the chapter of the family's palace on Via San Matteo (now Corso Roma), which was then acquired by the Capparelli family. Today, we can recognize it thanks to the plaque that designates its courtyard: Cortile Arco Capuano.
Therefore, we are the third generation of two families (Croce and Capuano) of fishermen and fish merchants. We grew up fully experiencing the life of a fisherman: we observed them while repairing and organizing nets and their boats; we studied them as they checked the direction and strength of the wind before setting sail. All done with utmost care. And it is with the same care and passion that we work in the fishery sector, to the point of becoming one of the leading companies in the marketing and distribution of FRESH FISH, 100% ITALIAN, in the national market.
Quality standards:
Our seafood products are inherently fresh: an hour after being unloaded from fishing vessels and prepared by highly specialized personnel, they depart for their destination. Within six to seven hours, they are delivered to wholesalers, fishmongers, restaurants, and processing industries along the Adriatic coast, Lazio, Campania, Milan, as well as throughout Apulia. All of this is done while maintaining the quality standards that allow us to preserve the flavors and nutritional properties of our catch.
