The Convent of Santa Maria della Consolazione is located about 5 km from Deliceto. In the wooded area where the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Consolazione stands, the first Christians took refuge in the time of persecutions and over time they built a church in honor of S. Pietro in Vincoli.
In 1470 the friar Felice da Corsano of the Eremitan Order of Sant'Agostino went, together with some of his brothers, to the wooded estate of Valle in Vincolis near Deliceto. In that place, thanks to the contribution of the Marquis Piccolomini, feudal lord of the place, he founded the convent dedicated to the Madre della Consolazione with annexed a small rectangular church, a cloister and a cave-refuge with three rooms which constituted his hermitage.
From the convent of Consolazione, Father Felice prepared the reform, called ilicetana, then implemented starting from 1492 and spread to seven dioceses.
