Medieval Future, prima assoluta a Foggia
Informations
Medieval Future to Make Its World Premiere in Foggia on November 3
**Silvano Mastromatteo's new work combines jazz, poetry, theatre and live comic illustration in a journey through the history of humanity.**
**FOGGIA, ITALY** – On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:30 PM, the Teatro Umberto Giordano in Foggia will host the world premiere of **“Medieval Future”**, an original work by composer **Silvano Mastromatteo**. The performance is part of the 56th Concert Season of the Amici della Musica di Foggia, under the artistic direction of Agostino Ruscillo.
The production offers an artistic experience that brings together jazz, poetry, theatrical storytelling and live comic illustration, exploring the contradictions of contemporary humanity.
**What if the Middle Ages had never truly ended?** This is the central question behind the work, which contrasts humanity's extraordinary scientific and technological achievements with the fears, vulnerabilities and conflicts that have persisted throughout history.
At the heart of the story is **Huma**, the personification of humanity, who embarks on a journey through the centuries, from the origins of humankind to a future that is both technologically advanced and unsettlingly familiar. Through this journey, the performance explores universal themes such as knowledge, love, loneliness and our relationship with technology, which offers unprecedented opportunities while also creating new forms of dependence and isolation.
The work will feature solo vocal performances by **Sarah Sportaiuolo and Silvano Mastromatteo**, with **Michele d'Errico** as narrator and **Giuseppe Guida** creating live comic illustrations.
The musical performance will be entrusted to the **Ensemble Symphonia Pugliese**, featuring Michele Carrabba on saxophone, Antonio Piacentino on trumpet and flugelhorn, Francesco Palmitessa on guitar, Gaetano Pistillo on piano, Silvano Mastromatteo on synthesizer and electric piano, Giorgio Vendola on double bass and Pierluigi Villani on drums.
The world premiere also represents an important occasion for **Symphonia Pugliese**, the publisher of Mastromatteo's works. Through its publishing activities, the organization supports the creation and dissemination of contemporary compositions, helping to promote the musical repertoire of living composers.
**Event Information and Tickets**
The performance will take place on **Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:30 PM, at the Teatro Umberto Giordano in Foggia, Italy**.
Tickets are available online through **Vivaticket** or directly from the theatre box office, starting at 7:00 PM on the day of the performance.
“Medieval Future” promises an encounter between music, words and visual storytelling, inviting audiences to reflect on the present through the past and to imagine a future in which humanity must once again confront its own nature.
