Informations

On Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10 at 9:00 PM, the Lucio Dalla Theatre in Manfredonia will host *La Buona Novella*, a tribute to Fabrizio De André presented by the New Generation Wind Orchestra – Città di Manfredonia, in collaboration with the theatre company Bottega degli Apocrifi.**

A collective of artists will take the stage to bring back to life an album that, fifty years after its release, still holds immense power and striking relevance. Among the featured performers are three musicians who have long pursued a personal artistic journey inspired by De André’s work: Matteo Fioretti, Andrea Stuppiello, and Alessandra Facchiano.

The orchestra, conducted by Maestro Antonio Pio La Marca—who also arranged the music—includes Michele Sportiello, Domenico Facciorusso, Luca Leone, Libera Lamparella, Angelo and Antonio Riccardo, Elisabetta Loconsole, Andrea Marturano, Gabriele Cosimo Gramazio, Giovanni D’Amato, Jacopo Giulio Mundo, Domenico Marasco, Antonio Trotta, Giuseppe Francesco Pio Bergantino, Melanie Armillotta, Antonio Ognissanti, Nicole Maria Trotta, Flavio and Fabio Troiano, Giuseppe Olivieri, and Michele Canistro.

Completing the musical ensemble is the *Mater et decor Carmeli* choir, led by Nicoletta Basta, featuring over twenty choristers, including Vincenzo Masotti, Giuseppe Damiano, Michele Prencipe, Alfredo D’Andrea, and many others.

Joining them on stage is Father Salvatore Miscio, author of the book *Dio del cielo vienimi a cercare. Faber uomo in ricerca* (“God of Heaven, Come Find Me. Faber, a Man in Search”), who will accompany the audience through the songs with selected reflections and commentary co-curated with Cosimo Severo and Stefania Marrone.

*La Buona Novella*, released in 1970, is regarded by De André himself as one of his most important works. Inspired by the apocryphal gospels, the album explores a more human, poetic, and revolutionary view of Christianity.

During a live concert at the Teatro Brancaccio in 1998, De André described the album’s intent as follows:

*"We were in the midst of the student protests, and some people questioned why I was talking about Christ’s preaching while they were fighting injustices in the streets and universities. They didn’t understand that the album was an allegory—a comparison between the best and most thoughtful aims of the 1968 movement and those of a man, 1,969 years earlier, who stood up against power and oppression in the name of equality and universal brotherhood. His name was Jesus of Nazareth, and in my view, he was and remains the greatest revolutionary of all time."*

Tickets are priced at €10 and can be purchased via Vivaticket or at the Lucio Dalla Theatre box office.
