THE AMULETS OF THE SECRET SUMMER

There is a secret that the village elders have passed down for generations, whispered in the shadow of stone doorways and amidst the scents of citrus groves. In Vico del Gargano, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, summer is not a simple matter of the calendar. It does not arrive on its own, pushed by the wind or the call of the sea. No, here summer needs a special invitation: it is led by the hand by small amulets hidden in the heart of the stone labyrinth of the historic center.

Those lucky enough to have found one in past years know they are not mere objects. They are guardians of small, great everyday miracles. Popular tradition attributes four fundamental powers to them:

Protection: to guard the dreams and steps of travelers.

Joy: capable of turning any bad moment into a laugh.

Friendship: the invisible thread that unites the hearts of passersby.

Courage: to overcome the darkest fears and look to the future.

Without these small energy catalysts, the magical atmosphere that makes Vico unique during the beautiful season simply cannot ignite.

The Mystery of This Year: The Village Left in the Dark

This year, however, something went wrong. The first lights of the season have arrived, but the air feels different. Between the famous Vicolo del Bacio (Alley of the Kiss) and the hidden little squares, there is a suspended sense of anticipation: the amulets have disappeared. No one knows where they went, or who or what took them away. The risk is real: without their presence, Vico del Gargano's summer risks being less bright, deprived of that spark that makes residents and travelers fall in love. The village has lost its guardians. The old stories of the town say that the amulets cannot be searched for if someone has taken them away... they can only be recreated from the heart and imagination of those who live in and visit this place.
