Palazzo D'Auria is one of the oldest private buildings in the city, founded in the 1500s on ancient Roman and medieval ruins.

The building underwent transformations over the centuries, the most significant of which was made in 1963 by the heirs of the D'Auria, the Secondo, as mentioned in the framed coat of arms of the vestibule of the building.

The two noble families that owned the palace were three of the most illustrious in the city: the D'Auria belonged to the local nobility and were ascribed to the law of the sixty some. His esteemed representatives were present in the administration of the city and distinguished themselves for merit of culture, such as the Jesuit Alessandro, author of a "Green Compendium of the whole history of Lucera" of 1740.

Of the Second Family we remember Giuseppe Maria, illustrious Bourbon magistrate first translator of the "Encyclopedia of Chambers", and Ferdinando, author of a successful "Public life of the Romans".
