Step into the heart of the Middle Ages with “Luceria 1240 – The Call of the Emperor”, taking place on June 20–21, 2026 at the stunning Fortezza di Lucera.


Organized by Gens Capitanatae, the event stands out for its historically accurate and research-based reconstructions.


🛡️ An authentic Middle Ages


The festival recreates 13th-century Lucera through:


historically accurate clothing and armor

civil and military equipment

daily life practices carefully reconstructed


A medieval camp will offer an interactive space where reenactors guide visitors through the past.


🎭 An immersive experience


Visitors can engage with reenactors, explore historical objects, and attend evocative performances.


Among the highlights is the knighting ceremony, faithfully reconstructed from historical sources.


⚔️ Historical context


The event focuses on June 1240, when the Capitanata area became a key hub for imperial mobilization.


Encounters between major figures of the time will be reenacted, offering insight into a multiethnic and multireligious society.
