Celebrazione del Centenario di Tommaso Nardella

San Marco in Lamis pays tribute to the 100th anniversary of Professor Tommaso Nardella’s birth with a rich program of exhibitions, screenings, and publications organized by the Municipal Administration in partnership with the Centro di Documentazione Leonardo Sciascia Archivio del Novecento and the Nardella family.

Opening Event – Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 5:00 PM

Exhibition on Brigandage: Documents and images tracing the history of brigandage in Capitanata.

Documentary Screening: “La Capitanata tra reazione e Brigantaggio”, introduced by Giampaolo Nardella.

Museum Inauguration: Dedication of a museum corner within Nardella’s personal library, marked by the commemorative inscription:

“In this house lived Tommaso Nardella—historian, bibliophile, erudite. Here stands the library he called his workshop, its tools the archival papers from which he drew sustenance to read between the lines the history of his homeland, the tragic phenomenon of brigandage, and the noble figures of his Capitanata.”

Book Presentation – Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 6:00 PM

Presentation of Antonio Motta’s volume “L’angelo del Gargano”, exploring the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Gargano region through Nardella’s scholarship.

Closing Commemoration – Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 5:00 PM

Distribution of the 2026 commemorative calendar “The Days of Brigandage in San Marco in Lamis through the Pages of Tommaso Nardella”, featuring archival photographs and excerpts from Nardella’s writings.
