Mostra ‘Dal Cristo bruciato al Cristo rivelato' al Castello Ducale
Informations
From April 14 to August 31, 2025, the Castello Ducale De Sangro in Torremaggiore presents “From the Burned Christ to the Revealed Christ,” an exhibition blending sacred tradition, history, and contemporary art. For the first time, the “Burned Christ” from the church of Sant’Anna is displayed in the castle’s palatine chapel alongside the “Revealed Christ,” a new sculpture by master artist Domenico Sepe.
Conceived by journalist Pino Aprile in collaboration with the Arciconfraternita del Rosario, this event inaugurates Holy Week, telling the story of Christ’s Death and Resurrection through two statues—one historic work entrusted in the 18th century by Raimondo De Sangro and one contemporary masterpiece.
The “Burned Christ,” believed to be the wooden “twin” of Giuseppe Sanmartino’s famed “Veiled Christ” in Naples, is brought into the spotlight by the Municipality of Torremaggiore, which seeks to celebrate and promote this unique local heritage.
