Until the beginning of the twentieth century, the bust of the famous painter Saverio Altamura was located on this site. In the Fascist era the bust was replaced by a sculpture that takes up the shapes and decorations of the Frederick era of what must have been the ancient medieval well and which was part of the Frederick's palace; the water still flows into this well, even if it is not drinkable.
