Castel del Monte

Castel del Monte is a fortress built in the 13th century by Emperor Frederick II of Swabia. It is located in Castel del Monte, part of the municipality of Andria.
In 1996 it was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and in 2014 it was the thirtieth most visited Italian state site with more than 205,000 visitors.
Castel del Monte is also featured on the 1 cent coin.
