Giuseppe Verdi Theater
Informations
The Giuseppe Verdi theater is located in San Severo, in Corso Garibaldi.
Designed by the architect Cesare Bazzani, its construction began in 1929 and ended in 1936.
The municipal theater of San Severo has a capacity of 800 seats and is home to many events and shows.
The building, with an almost trapezoidal plan, is located in the very central area, on a vast garden that once belonged to the Benedictine monastery. Its elegant and imposing neoclassical exteriors stand out prominently on Corso Garibaldi (the front facade) and the Giro Esterno (the left side), making it an important landmark for the city.
Inside, the monument is of great refinement. The spacious foyer welcomes visitors with warm and golden tones, while the reduced seating area, now the Auditorium, features rhythmic surfaces and is surrounded by spacious lounges. The solemn Italian-style hall, with excellent acoustics, spans five levels, including a large gallery and a grand amphitheater, displaying a thoughtful eclecticism that recalls the history of European theatrical buildings, from classical antiquity to modern times.
