Museum of the Treasure of the Troia Cathedral

The Museum of the Treasure of the Troia Cathedral enhances the heritage of the city. It is a Diocesan museum that not only does catechesis, but also meets the spiritual needs of man and therefore overshadows the fleeting aspects of "hit and run" art exhibitions.

An ecclesial museum is also a continuous proclamation of faith and a call to spirituality (Kant saw in the contemplation of beauty a reflection of the divine), in it we find a soul and a collective conscience in its cultural, religious and civil matrix. The intervention in the former Episcopal Seminary was mainly aimed at understanding the artistic and symbolic content of the "collection" by creating a museum accessible to all. The museum wants to express a concept of dynamic conservation, use and enhancement not only of the objects but of the testimony of faith that they represent and bear. They are signs of the past that testify present, current and future values, the past that is actualized and projected into the future.

We tried to privilege the characteristics of the contemporary museum above all in the dynamism and flexibility of the spaces, even if this operation was complicated by the structure of a building created for other functions (diocesan seminary and schools) and therefore binding in the creation of museum spaces and of its technological infrastructures. Another important aspect in the design and consequent operations of museum set-up was the study of measures to ensure the multiple and often unpredictable needs of conservation, combined with the maximum enhancement of the communication of their cultural and historical message.
