Informations

The works of Giulio Turcato, an exponent and cornerstone of the Forma1 movement and protagonist of the sign scene, arrive in Foggia.

Giuseppe Benvenuto's Contemporary Art Gallery has carefully selected representative works by the artist, from the results of his exploration of space and pictorial gesture, to the vibrant colors and diverse experiments with materials such as sand, foam rubber, and material mixtures. Giulio Turcato between the movement “Forma1” and the “Gruppo dei otto” is a prominent artist of the second half of the Italian twentieth century, his unconventional nature and his way of painting have undermined the figurative vision. The exhibition will contain approximately twenty works from the end of the years ‘50 to the latest productions.

The foam rubber is among Giulio Turcato's most interesting projects, “Alleluja” present in the exhibition project, it is a work from the late ‘60s, the use of this support is for him research and experimentation, the foam rubber brought back to the panel with a sense of three-dimensionality, which then merges with the oil and acrylic painting applied subsequently; iconic and pioneer of this technique opens the cycle of lunar surfaces. Moving on to works such as “Forme” from the ‘70s, where the aim is to give rhythm to the canvas, expanding the gesture into a more liberating and colourful action, it appears almost like a game, the figures coexist and cross each other combining an autonomous language. “A lira”, from ‘73, is a representation of Turcato's various research projects, such as the application of real banknotes on canvas, collage is part of his experimentation mostly between the years ‘60-’70, he goes from the application of pills, to sand, to money.

This unconventional nature of it generates a sort of symbolic abstract art. The Artist has an artistic and creative perspective that moves hand in hand with political ideology, and his sensitivity makes every characteristic and moral value work and creation. Turcato sets no limits, and is evident in his witty choice to make his abstract art alive and tangible, selecting colors and modus operandi (handprints, use of real banknotes, sand). Alive and true because it allows the user to enter its private space, it is the artist himself who identifies with and identifies with the work. Contemporanea Galleria d'Arte aims to highlight the fundamental contribution he has made to the Italian landscape, promoting and paying homage to the informal setting, highlighting gesture and form, through an exhibition that will open the doors of the venue located at Viale Michelangelo, 65, on Saturday, January 10th at 6:30 pm at the Contemporanea Galleria d'Arte.

The exhibition will be open to visitors every day, excluding holidays, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, until February 22nd.
