Teatro Umberto Giordano - Quanto Basta

The Giordano theatre festival continues in Foggia in the new year with two events, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th February, with the show directed by and starring Paolo Sassanelli and Lucia Zotti entitled "Quanto Basta".

A day like any other for an elderly couple married to the city's lower middle class. The wife prepares to cook a pan of parmigiana, the husband returns home with an old radio found near the bins. She deals bitterly with regrets, while he, more calm, lives in his own little world. They know each other by heart and constantly feed themselves for any triviality. It is the fear of getting lost that keeps them together and that, in the moment of danger, brings back that love felted by the years, like a habit.

It all takes place in the kitchen of the apartment they have always shared, and the scenic layout invites them to spy on them, as if they were our neighbors, whose lives they observe through the windows. Their stories thus belong to each person's daily life, lived in the family.

A one-act play in which Piva alternates comical and surreal tones with moments of melancholic poetry, and offers the portrait of two human beings that the viewer cannot help but identify with. Thanks to a simple, magnificent theatrical game, bordering on the grotesque and the dramatic, basic existential questions emerge that dwell in the hearts of all humanity.
