'Fridays in the Workshop' in Mattinata: A Theater Series for Kids

The magic of theater is coming to Mattinata with the series ‘La scena dei ragazzi,’ organized by the Municipality of Mattinata in collaboration with Puglia Culture and supported by the company ‘La Maschera.’ Designed for children and their families, the series will feature four performances, all on Saturday afternoons at 6:30 PM in the Elementary School Theater of Mattinata. Tickets are priced at 5 euros. For information and reservations, you can contact the company at 3317069810.

The series kicks off on October 26 with ‘Peter Pan e l’isola che non c’è,’ presented by Teatro della Polvere / Produzioni AVL, with a text by Anna Laura d’Ecclesia and directed by Mariangela Conte. This performance offers a long and entertaining metaphor for a child's growth, depicting a boy who, while he may seem like many others, possesses the unique ability to travel through his imagination. His journey will take him to the Neverland, where he can experience exciting adventures, demonstrating that growing up is a tool for realizing one’s dreams. The ability to fly symbolizes transforming dreams into reality.

On November 16, ‘Veleleggiamo. La vera storia di Capitan Propp’ will take the stage, presented by ‘Il Carro dei Comici.’ Captain Propp is the captain of a quirky ship manned by reader pirates. However, he never allows the stories to reach their conclusions. The adventure leads to the island of fairy tales, where treasures found are only books. Children will enjoy theatrically diving in and out of beloved stories such as Pinocchio, Bluebeard, and Little Red Riding Hood, with a surprise ending that will highlight the importance of reading.

On December 7, the performance ‘Pulcinella e la magia del Natale’ by Radicanto will take place. In this show, Pulcinella is on a mission to save Christmas, threatened by the devil, who wants to stop Santa Claus from delivering gifts on Christmas Eve. After a series of amazing adventures, with help from the Befana, Pulcinella will restore the magic of Christmas to all the children in the world.

The final event will be held on December 28 with ‘Schiaccianoci swing’ by Bottega degli Apocrifi. The Nutcracker tale transforms into a piece dedicated to the little ones, protected by toy musicians who believe in dreams and can make them come true.

This is an unmissable opportunity for families and children to experience the beauty of theater in a festive and engaging atmosphere!
