The Legend of the Artist
Informations
Following its initial events, the project now turns its focus to screenwriting with one of its most authoritative voices.
After hosting leading figures such as Sonia Bergamasco, Ludovico Di Martino, and Vinicio Marchioni, The Legend of the Artist continues its cultural journey by opening a new chapter dedicated to cinematic writing.
The next guest will be Enrico Vanzina, one of the most representative figures in contemporary Italian cinema, particularly in the field of comedy.
The event is scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2026, at 5:30 PM at the Auditorium Santa Chiara, in the heart of the city of Foggia. It offers a valuable opportunity for students and enthusiasts to engage directly with one of the leading figures in Italian cinematic storytelling from the 1980s to the present day.
A prolific and versatile author, Vanzina has played a decisive role in shaping a collective imagination made up of iconic characters, recognizable languages, and narrative dynamics that have spanned generations. His work, developed across cinema, television, theatre, and literature, stands out for its ability to combine entertainment with a critical observation of Italian society, capturing its transformations, contradictions, and customs.
During the meeting, moderated by Professor Floriana Conte, the author will retrace the key stages of his career, focusing on the origins of his visual imagination—deeply influenced by the history of art—as well as on the craft of screenwriting. Particular attention will be given to character development and to the role of comedy as a privileged lens through which to interpret reality.
The initiative is part of the broader project The Legend of the Artist, a program that intertwines academic training, research, and cultural production, fostering direct dialogue between students and leading figures in the contemporary artistic landscape. Among its central elements is the creation of a “virtual museum,” an evolving digital archive collecting video testimonies from the artists involved, to which Vanzina himself will contribute.
The project is coordinated by a scientific committee composed of Danilo Leone, Floriana Conte, and Tiziana Ragno, with the support of the University’s communication structures and Third Mission Area, and is backed by the Fondazione Apulia Felix.
Admission is free.
A high-profile cultural event that confirms the role of the series as a space for dialogue and growth, capable of enhancing the territory through engagement with leading figures of Italian culture.
